Loved this - I think about where I spend my money and how that brings me fulfilment in the way that I value most. It also makes you realise you need way less and then you may be willing to spend way more in areas others might not (e.g. for me physio, massage, skateboards, oil painting supplies, drawing classes etc)

Well-written piece that covers a topic I frequently have thoughts on; I appreciate you sharing!

As a follow-up: how often is revisiting the “rich life” healthy?

(Context: while I am living well now, I wonder the “what’s next” -- I straddle the line of “continue earning a solid salary, until I can be FI...” and “now or never; my expectations will only rise to the point of FI being unattainable...”)

This is an incredible piece Paul!! I 100% agree with what you are sharing. I think people fixate on making X amount way too often that we fail to understand first what we're going to use that money for. Personally, I'm lucky to grow up in a family (and country) where both my parents are very grounded with spendings - knowing what matters most to them that money can buy (aside from essentials which is travelling and experiences).
